Military Patch Quilt

Here is one of the latest quilts I’m working on. I was so honored to be commissioned for this quilt because it’s a gift for someone that is retiring after being in the military for 30 years!

The colors of the quilt are cobalt blue, yellow, and black to match the colors of the Army and my customer’s regimental colors. For the back I chose two fabrics from the America the Beautiful fabric line.

Here is a picture of all the patches that are going on the quilt.

I’ve laid out the squares and sewed the patches to each square. Sewing them on was actually a lot of fun because I did it by hand. I haven’t hand sewn something in so long! I haven’t had a chance to take a picture of the patches sewn on, but here’s one before they were sewn together.

Stayed tuned for more pictures as I get the quilt finished up!

‘Fun’? Sewing those patches probably left you with a lovely callous and a few select words for the crazy person who asked you to put this together!! Oh yeah, that was me. :)

I am over the moon about this quilt! I inarticulately explained to you a vision of a simplistic square block display of my husband’s unit patches. You took that idea and turned it into something so special. This will definitely be a display piece in our home, likely whatever personal area in which he keeps his treasures collected over the last 30 years, and it will have a place of prominence.

You have done an amazing job and I can’t wait to see his face when I present it to him on the evening before his last ceremony in uniform.

Thank you SO much, Kristy! HOOAH!!
