I finally finished Mia’s peace sign quilt. I feel like it took me forever! You might remember when I wrote about it here.
It was kinda fun trying appliqué for the first time. I’m definitely going to need more practice at it though. I know there’s a ton of great tutorials out there on how to do appliqué correctly, but I’ve realized that when it comes to quilting, I like to try things on my own until I find a method that works for me. Sometimes it leads to doing it just like it said in the tutorial, but other times it leads me to a new method that fits me.
So anyways here are some pics of the quilt! I wasn’t able to get the best pictures because Florida weather wasn’t cooperating with me.
Here’s the whole quilt. I did free motion quilting all around.
Here’s a close up of the appliqué. I decided to leave the edges of the peace sign raw so it’ll have a cool, frayed look.
And here’s a picture of the back.
Also, I tried doing some writing in the quilt. I wrote “peace” and “Mia”. I’m not sure how well you’ll be able to see it though.
I hope Mia will love this quilt. She’s going to get it next weekend, so maybe I’ll be able to put up a picture of her with it.
